The knowledge of a subject is one thing but the instruction and delivery is what is most important. its very important as a new teacher to ensure that each student is receiving every ounce of information possible. A teacher who is prepared is well on their way to a successful instructional experience. The development of interesting lessons takes a great deal of time and effort. As a new teacher I am committed to investing my time and efforts into making each lesson educational and engaging. Though sometimes difficult I strive to incorporate several learning styles throughout each lesson. On this page you will find my strides to establish a productive work environment and to foster student involvement and cooperation in all learning tactics. I will present several artifacts on how I engage students, use technology, and uses questioning to promote educational growth in students.
Successfully Engaging Students
Engaging students in the learning process increases their attention and focus, motivates them to develop critical thinking skills and adds meaning behind every learning experiences. Throughout my clinical experience I have used the 5E model for lesson planning. The 5E model ensures I start every lesson off with something engaging. It is essential that students perceive every lesson as meaningful and that's what an engage does. Its also very important to have academic statement for each lesson to let the students no WHY a topic is of importance to them.

Below I have feedback on a 5E Lesson I created with a partner during Step 2 of my clinical teaching. For our engage we had each student in partners. While one person flipped the coin the other recorded results. At the end of each trial we had the students record there data on a huge chart, we then discussed what was happening as we increased the number of times we flipped the coin. The comments below explains how successful we were in capturing the students attention and how the engage lead to a great discussion during the Elaborate.
Questioning and Assessment Techniques
One of the things I struggle with during my clinical teaching is my questioning. I had to learn to uses several techniques to not only engage students but also formatively asses. What is important to note is that in addition to the content of the question, how the question itself is asked matters. Students may say “Yes, I am listening” or “Yes, I have understood” simply to avoid embarrassment. These questions are open ended and do not promote learning. All though the goal of the questions are the same the indirect questions make the students to shut down. Good questions can measure a students tentativeness and if they are comprehending the material. Open ended questions motivate students to share, which introduces collaborative learning, and helps students develop their own critical thinking.
Below I have a comment made by my mentor teacher during my apprentice teaching. The comment shows how I used questioning to asses students who were struggling and adjusted my questioning to make sure that the student understood the topic before I moved on.
Another question technique I used was choose students name at random to make sure each student was paying attention and following along during lessons during student teaching. The app is called Randomly it is made specifically for teachers and professors. It allows educators to enter their students into individual classes. They can then use the Random Name Selector feature to randomly call on a student to answer a question by one of two ways: Truly random, where repeated names are allowed, or a one pass – where all students are called once before they are called again. The device you're using will even call out (vocally) the student's name. The app is free, and it dose not have a way to record if the student got the answer right or wrong. This app is really useful, because it help keeps all students alert. They have know idea what name could be next.

Technology
Students today were born in a technology era. Technology is at the forefront of student learning in todays society. Using technology in a lesson engage students in many ways. Whether its using graphing calculators, the smart board or a computer students are connected with technology everyday. Integrating technology into classroom instruction means more than teaching basic computer skills and software programs in a separate computer class. Effective technology integration must happen across the curriculum. Research shows that students of todays age show a deeper understanding of material when technology is used.

During Project Based interaction I created with a partner a video that was used for the introduction for a 3 week PBL. The students were to research and build 1 of 3 choice explained in the video. This video shows how I incorporated technology that engaged my students but was also educational. Also I have a comment made

To the left is a internet based game I design during integration of technology course. I created a series of question as required for the class. The game is called Kahoot, and it mixes up the question in a series of different ways to help students study. The game allows you to play alone or it can be played using teams. This game is great because it send a report back to the creator of every question the players got right and wrong.
